The main gallery at the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Center is a unique forum showcasing six annual exhibitions on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. Works of emerging and mid-career artists, cultural artists, and alternative voices offer a platform for conversations with our community; conversations which might be personal, conceptual, political, or social; resonant windows into the aesthetic and mystical human nature we all share.

SUMMER ARTS EXPOSITION
EHCC: Hawaii Museum of Contemporary Arts will hold a CALL for ENTRIES for the “Summer Arts Exposition” to be exhibited from July 5-23, 2014.
Residents of the Big Island may enter up to three (3) entries with ALL MEDIA acceptable. Entries must be of original works ONLY, Giclee prints of photographs & digital art are also acceptable.
Entry fees for EHCC:HMOCA Member: $15 per entry*
Non-Members: $25 per entry

When musicians in EHCC's gamelan studio recently noticed the beginnings of a Little Fire Ant infestation, we called the company Just Fire Ants (http://www.justfireants.com) to see if they could help.

This Saturday at 1:00 and 3:30 we present the inaugural concert of the East Hawai'i Cultural Center’s Out-of-Doors Arts Program, which will use our newly built AARP Livable Communities Stage to present free theatre, dance, music, hula, poetry, spoken-word, readers-theatre, and lectures. Home base for the stage is a just-created outdoor sixty seat space, previously unused, on the EHCC grounds.

The native plant restoration project at EHCC took place in the Spring of 2024 and was made possible with funding from the Historic Hawaiʻi Foundation.

The East Hawaii Cultural Center has been at the beating heart of our community culture on the Big Island for four decades. Run largely by volunteers, under the leadership of whoever had time and passion, the Center has offered a venue for a host of cultural groups, artists, theater and music ensembles, and workshops. When the current Board Chairman asked me to take over running the venue a month ago, I was excited and daunted.
